FlashFX is all web

You can install this page with Chromium

There is no installer to download and no setup to run. Every browser worth using can turn a page into a windowed app in about four clicks. Here is how.

Installing it

Install editor.flashfx.app rather than this page: the editor is the part worth having in its own window. The steps below work on any URL.

Chrome, desktop

  1. Open the page you want as an app.
  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right.
  3. Choose Cast, save and share, then Install page as app.
  4. On older Chrome versions this lives under More tools, then Create shortcut: tick Open as window.
  5. Confirm. It opens in its own window and lands in your app launcher.

Edge

  1. Open the page you want as an app.
  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right.
  3. Choose Apps, then Install this site as an app.
  4. Name it and confirm.
  5. Edge adds it to your Start menu or dock, and offers to pin it to the taskbar.

Brave, Opera, Vivaldi

  1. All three are Chromium underneath, so the feature is the same.
  2. Open the browser menu.
  3. Look for Install, or More tools then Create shortcut.
  4. Tick Open as window if the option appears.

Safari, macOS

  1. Requires macOS Sonoma or newer.
  2. Open the page in Safari.
  3. From the menu bar choose File, then Add to Dock.
  4. Rename it if you like and confirm.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the page in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm. It behaves like an installed app from the home screen.

On iOS this must be Safari: other browsers cannot add to the home screen.

Android

  1. Open the page in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen, or Install app if it appears.
  4. Confirm.

Firefox, desktop

  1. Firefox on desktop cannot install a site as an app: the feature was removed and has not returned.
  2. Bookmark the editor, or use a Chromium browser if you want a dedicated window.

Firefox on Android does support Install.

An installed page is still the same web app. It updates when we ship, with nothing to patch on your side. Removing it is the same as removing any other app, and nothing is left behind on disk.
